An in-depth look at the culture of corruption (The War in Iran)

Sun Apr 02, 2006 at 10:15:29 AM PDT

This morning, I came across an interesting website called Regime Change Iran, which led me to the more interesting story that follows.

The story was apparently published last summer in the Asia Times.  It is entitled "The American Hand in Iran," by Trish Schuh.

Ms. Schuh writes that Bush recently declared in front of 25,000 soldiers at Fort Hood, "The establishment of a free Iraq is a watershed event in the global democratic revolution. That success is sending a message from Beirut to Tehran."

Who did the Bush Administration task to deliver the message?  None other than Swiftboat Veteran, Jerome Corsi. I thought Bush didn't know these guys?

"On May 16, 2005, Corsi's NGO, the Iran Freedom Foundation (IFF), inaugurated a 12-day "Iran Freedom Walk" from Philadelphia's Liberty Bell to Washington, DC."

What is the Freedom Walk........

Tiki Barber should be traded

Wed Mar 15, 2006 at 05:02:32 AM PDT

Tiki Barber should be traded and shipped out of NYC.

Why?  For going on FOX & Friends.  For supporting Bush.  For spewing filth and bile.  For example, he stated this morning that "most (he might have even said all) of the 9/11 victims' families want the death penalty in the Moussaoui case."

How does he know that?  I bet he doesn't, and he just spews the rhetoric handed to him that morning.  You might argue that is his opinion, but his opinion is worthless.

This is not news.  This is propaganda, and for that he doesn't deserve our support.  Let him play in Texas.  Let's show the NY Giants we don't want our athletes to condone fascism, torture, and corruption.

A little more after the fold....

Who is Melinda Pillsbury and should she be believed??

Sat Mar 04, 2006 at 09:26:20 AM PDT

Until yesterday, I had never heard of her, but I think she needs some attention because what she says is not only interesting but downright scary.

All the credit goes to Crooksandliars http://www.crooksandliars.com/

I am sure that others have read about her or what she has thersaid, and I think they would recommend all of us to do the same, yes?

Her link is within yesterday's Mike's Blog Round-Ups:  Pillsbury's site is "How the NeoCons Stole Freedom." http://howtheneoconsstolefreedom.blogspot.com/

"There's nothing farther from the truth."

Sun Feb 12, 2006 at 09:13:31 AM PDT

That was Bush when forced to respond to disclosures that the U.S. and Britain had agreed on a course of war in Iraq much earlier than previously made known to the public.

Interestingly, the former head of the branch of the CIA responsible for the Middle East confirmed what many of us have known for some time.

Paul Pillar, the recently retired former National Intelligence Officer for the Near East and South Asia (the Middle East) in the CIA from 2000 to 2005, who, in his own words, was "in charge of coordinating all of the intelligence community's assessments regarding Iraq" tells us:

"The Bush administration's use of intelligence on Iraq did not just blur this distinction; it turned the entire model upside down. THE ADMINISTRATION USED INTELLIGENCE NOT TO INFORM DECISION MAKING BUT TO JUSTIFY A DECISION ALREADY MADE."

Sound familiar?  It should.

Talk about an October Surprise

Mon Jan 23, 2006 at 05:07:09 PM PDT

This is really a short diary, but I think it needs to be heard.

It comes from a diary in the Huffington Post about Abramoff. The article quotes Grover Norquist talking about the 2006 elections. The money quote is about three-quarters of the way down:

And then for the coup de grace, says Norquist,
his baby face breaking into a wide grin:
"We'll bring in al-Zarqawi and Osama Bin Ladin."

Little more on the flip. . .

Is this possible???

Sat Jan 21, 2006 at 11:40:01 AM PDT

This diary is about Osama. The man Bush can't seem to capture or kill. The man this Administration wanted us to forget about.

This diary is about his most recent message to the world.  My thoughts are random, and I wonder what others have to say.

IS ANYONE WATCHING ALITO ON C-SPAN

Tue Jan 10, 2006 at 07:03:18 PM PDT

I was sitting there watching the Alito hearings and it was during the break.  Please tell me that someone else heard the so-called 11 year old caller.

I can't help myself, but that didn't sound like no eleven year old.  I think her exact words were:

"Hi. . . I'm eleven years old (why ain't you in school or are you being home-schooled) and I am watching the hearings.  I hope that Alito gets "nominated."  I am learning so much.  Thank you."

I think that was pretty much it.

WHOOPS!!

Sun Nov 20, 2005 at 08:31:19 AM PDT

This is going to be short and sweet folks:

It's about our present day Goebbels (I must hate America, right?) I mean Woodward.

Most everyone, including myself, has not yet fully realized the import of Woodward's disclosure that he knew about Valerie Plame or Joe Wilson's wife before Libby outed her.

Lil more after the fold ........

I just heard it on Fox

Wed Nov 09, 2005 at 05:52:11 AM PDT

Of course we have all heard by now that George has directed all W.H. staff to attend refresher courses in ethics.  Well, not all. Apparently, George and Dick don't need to attend so I wonder who is actually going.

Keith Olbermann had a great point last night: if you are not going to tell us what these classes consist of or who is attending or let us in, then we are going to make it up. To literally shame them into practicing open government.

Fitzmas

Wed Oct 26, 2005 at 06:09:35 AM PDT

This has to be a very quick diary because I am off to work, but I wanted to weigh in with my prediction, which from all accounts Fitzmas is to occur today.

I submit to all of you that Fitzgerald will surprise us.  He will indict many people (Rove, Libby, Cheney, Hadley, maybe even some of the other bit players), and he will indict with big and bold charges.

Little bit more after the fold:

C'mon people, Dean was quite good

Sun Oct 23, 2005 at 07:48:12 AM PDT

I hope everyone here watched, or gets to watch, Howard Dean on Stephanopoulos this morning.

He has really matured and aged with time.  I don't mean to be snarky, but Dean has had his moments even in spite of some really bad press.  I don't need to mention the Dean scream, which was not a scream, do I?  He also didn't have an exceptionally strong start at DNC.  Even if I did often agree with his message, his form got in the way of substance (e.g. Republicans are all white, haven't worked a day in their life or that sort of stuff), he sometimes could have been too shrill for America. But today, he was good, and he had ammo.

More after the flip:

I am watching Chris Matthews now

Fri Oct 14, 2005 at 04:24:15 PM PDT

I just learned that this guy got an additional hour from MSNBC so now he's on during the 5:00 to 6:00 o'clock slot and the regular 7:00 to 8:00.  I actually should be watching the Simpsons.  Yes, I know the educational level of this poster is kind of sad.

More after the fold and the purpose of my post

I was watching Nancy Pelosi on Wolf Blitzer

Sun Sep 11, 2005 at 09:19:28 AM PDT

just now, and she was asked if there were still things that she thought were not being done that should be done (in the context of Hurricane Katrina).

I admit that I did not listen to her answer (I have never been a big fan of hers) because I thought of a few of my own things I would like to be done right now:

PAUL HACKETT FOR SENATE

Tue Aug 23, 2005 at 03:41:27 AM PDT

I have never posted a diary.  Frankly, I like to post comments.

But, I just read on Talking Points Memo that Mr. Hackett is considering and/or going to run for Senate against DeWine, and I had to bring it to all of your attention.

This, my friends, if true is awesome news.  I saw Mr. Hackett on several news shows recently and he said that he had not made up his mind on his future. If is true that he will run, I couldn't be any happier, and he should be encouraged by all of us to run. He really deserves a seat at the table.

I am sorry if this violates the rules for diaries in its brevity.  Maybe somebody else (Mr. Hackett?) could add to my diary. I just wish I could vote in Ohio.  Oh, if only I were a republican than I could.
